We want some luxury and relaxation...so Florida and a cruise :) Day 12

Friday

In amazing news, we had no alarm today so we got up and headed to breakfast at Luminae.

I had scrambled eggs on toast and Rob had an omelette with toast, this was accompanied by coffee I am sure!

We headed off the ship at about 1130, and firstly we secured our magnet and got a drink and a snack of churros and ice cream.

We checked in for our tour at 1245 and were allocated Juan as our guide (there were 3 buses for the tour, each with different guides.

We got on our bus and were taken to a shop (but it was the same company that we had bought our magnet from earlier.)

There wasn’t much else nearby, so this was a slightly odd stop (but was listed in the description.)

Then we went to the bee sanctuary which was smaller than we expected, the bees in Cozumel are different to our honey bees – they don’t sting but also they make a much smaller quantity of honey.

We were given small samples of the different honey’s to see the difference.

Next we went to the Mayan Cacao Company which was in a very odd location (it appeared to be next to a closed down shopping mall) and when we arrived they told Juan they had no electric (remember this later!)

They tried to do their best and to show us around but there was no air conditioning and without the power they were limited. I also got savaged by mosquitos (more to come on that!), we left quite quickly as there was really not much to see under the circumstances.

Our final stop was the barrecita where we were told about the different types of tequila, we also got some samples (Rob had mine!) but in a weird twist they also had no electric.

Again, our stop was cut short and we were glad to get back on our air conditioned bus.

We drove back to the port where we discovered that the power was out across the entire island…..which was very eirie as all of the shops were in silence – they were still open and willing to sell goods if people had cash.

Overall, a slightly weird excursion for us. Probably not the right choice again but the loss of power was an extra challenge.

We got back on board and then had a drink and a rest in our cabin before dinner, no surprise we went to Luminae

We both skipped starters; Rob had steak and I had the Cornish hen.

Then Wadzy (our assistant server) convinced Rob to try a different dessert! We both had the chocolate bar with Rob’s chocolate cake in reserve (he ate both.) I also had a coffee
