Will we ever move house trip - Day 10

14th June

We took advantage of yet another free breakfast this morning, still not up to the standard of the Buena Vista Palace but better than Virginia Beach…!

We left Charleston via a small diversion to a Harley Davidson store. I got some gloves and Rob got a top and we got a fridge magnet to add to our collection.

We continued on our long drive, stopping for a late lunch along the way. We hit some traffic on I4 (not unexpected) but arrived at the Dolphin at around 1815. We checked in and upgraded to a renovated room with resort view.

We got our stuff sorted out in the room and then went for dinner at ESPN. We shared some BBQ chicken, then I had a turkey sandwich and Rob had a cheesesteak….not as good as the Philly one!

There was a storm in the area so we took a walk around the water and then watched some lightning for a bit!

We managed to watch most of illuminations from the room before heading off to bed!

Will we ever move house trip - Day 8 and 9

12th June

We had a relaxed start to the morning including breakfast. Jen and Tom had baked Rob a birthday cake which was really sweet of them!

Once we were up and ready we went shopping to take advantage of no sales tax in Delaware!

I know we went to Best Buy and Target as Rob was looking for a Go Pro, luckily we decided not to buy it in Best Buy as there was a better model available in Target for the same price!

We also got some sweets to take home, some shoes for me and we convinced Jen to buy some ice cream :)

Once back at the house Tom made us sandwiches for lunch (I think Jen and Tom had some chicken from dinner the night before), such good hosts! Then the lego building continued….

We also needed to go back to Home Depot so Rob could finish tidying the cables :)

For our last night we went to the Riverfront for dinner, we went to the Iron Hill Brewery which was a good choice.

After our food we went for a walk so that I could get my 10,000 steps in for the day!

Back at the house and we had cake and ice cream for dessert while Rob completed his cable tidying.

13th June

Rob's birthday! This morning we got up around 7ish, just in time to say goodbye to Jen before she went to work.

We had breakfast and finished packing our last few bits and pieces.

We had another long drive ahead as we went from Delaware to Charleston SC, we stopped somewhere for a late lunch.

We did see the Washington skyline on our way down! We arrived at Charleston at around 7pm and went in search of something to eat. We found a restaurant nearby which was ok, but nothing exciting…no photos!

Finally we popped into Walmart and got a few things including Sunny Delight for Rob!

Will we ever move house trip - Day 7

11th June

Today we decided to take a trip into Philadelphia, Jen drove to the station and we took the train. It was reasonably priced at only $12 each.

We arrived just before lunchtime and took a very brief look inside the Reading Terminal Market before we went in search of a Philly Cheesesteak for Rob.

We googled the best places to get a cheesesteak and having selected one which was ‘only’ a mile and a half away we set off.

I should point out at this stage that it was quite warm today…! We went on our really long walk (or at least it felt it in the heat!) and finally arrived at Geno’s which was just a window with a massive line of people waiting to buy their cheesesteaks.

I don’t know why but both Rob and I had expected a restaurant of some kind, but what we found was some outside tables (so no air con to cool is all down!)

That said, Rob and Tom got in line and I spotted that drinks were sold at a different window so I got them. We did manage to get a table so sat there for the boys to eat their food.

I know that Tom wasn’t that impressed (we all agreed that it obviously isn’t to his taste), Rob however absolutely loved his! It was unsurprisingly much better than the Disney one and was definitely worth the walk (in his opinion – Jen would almost certainly disagree ;) )

We headed back towards the Liberty Bell with a plan to find something for Jen and I to eat.

We ended up getting a subway, but we managed to find the hottest subway in all of Philadelphia…..it was actually hotter than outside Geno’s!

We went back to the Liberty Bell visitor centre to cool down (they had air con), we bought ourselves a magnet and considered viewing the bell up close. However, we decided that the line was far too long and so headed back towards the train station.

We popped back into the market and got some amazingly yummy cakes to take back with us, then got the next train back to Wilmington.

Once back at the house we ordered food to be delivered as Tom, Jen and Rob had a project for the evening….Lego!

This was Jen’s birthday present and they started building it the previous weekend when Jen’s mom had come to stay. Rob had promised that he would help them complete it……and I documented their progress with a series of photos.
