After another late night we were rudely woken at 0641 by more beeping and machinery noise!
Rob got up and went to the gym, while I decided to try and sleep a bit longer. I was not happy being woken up so early again – I am not an early riser on my holidays.By the time I got up and Rob had spoken to reception and they offered to move us, which was not ideal as it meant packing again but it was preferable to being woken early for the next 2 days….as apparently, they couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t continue.
As we were heading out we packed our stuff which was to be collected and moved by Bell Services and then we continued with our plans for the day which was to start with a visit to Geyser Point bar and grill for lunch.
We arrived at just after 11 and were seated immediately and brought waters before we ordered drinks (we had a mix of sodas I think).
I ordered the charcuterie board, Rob had a chicken burger (I think) and someone had a sandwich (Tom I think).
This was really good my charcuterie board was supposed to be a sharing starter but I managed to eat it all on my own as a main
Our park for today was Animal Kingdom where we had no special events to reduce our queueing time, but we did have evening extra magic hours so let’s see if we could achieve our goals in this park too!
We arrived at around 1300 and decided our first ride should be Dinosaur (where the stated wait was 15 min), Jennifer had worked on this ride when she was an engineering intern at Disney.
Tom who had never ridden the ride before (he’s still a first timer) managed to look the wrong way again for the photo! He might also have been baffled by Jennifer and I reciting the dialogue on the way around
Next up for us was Expedition Everest (with another 15 min wait) and we were allocated the back row, Jennifer managed to get video of us as we came down the big hill as well
We’d been in the park for maybe an hour and 30 mins by now so we obviously needed to get ice creams and a drink…. it’s hard work theme parking in the heat!
We had a quick look at the monkeys, took a group vote on whether we should ride Kali River Rapids (no!) and decided to prioritise the Safari next as we weren’t sure how many animals we would see given it was quite warm now.
We did see a few animals, unsurprisingly no lions and then we went on a walk-through Gorilla Falls trail.
Next up we decided Tom had to experience It’s Tough To Be a Bug, although we were disappointed that not all of the effects worked and so he didn’t get ‘stung’!
As we only had a couple of other priorities for the day (Pandora) we decided to go back and have a final ride on Dinosaur!
We managed to get a photo outside the entrance (we found another group and we took each other’s photos) before having an even shorter wait – I think this time it was only 10 mins.
We may have all taken Tom’s lead and deliberately looked the wrong way for our last ride photo
It was now just after 1700 and the normal closing time for the park was 1800 so we headed into Pandora and got ourselves dinner at Satu’li Canteen.
We had a mix of the rice/salad bowls although Rob and I got served by a weird cast member who for some reason did not want to give us the drink ‘cup’ we had paid for…. probably the only grumpy cast member we encountered on our trip!
By now we were into the extra magic hours so we headed into the line for Flight Of Passage, I think the stated wait time was around 45 mins but it definitely wasn’t that long as we did Navi River straight after and I have a photo stood outside the rides at 1905!
We took some photos in Pandora, which looks so much better at night (although the effects on the paths have faded) and we were really lucky that they added the extra hours on our planned day!
We headed back to the hotel and despite being told our stuff would be moved to our new room it wasn’t there. Luckily, we called bell services and despite having no claim check they managed to locate our things and they were delivered a few minutes later.
We quickly unpacked again and then caught the boat across to the Contemporary. The plan was to go up to the Top Of The World Lounge, but when we got up there wasn’t any room
We had a quick look around the Contemporary and decided to head back to Wilderness Lodge so we went to wait for the boat back.
While we were waiting we saw the Electrical Light Parade, we saw a little bit of it but typically if we had stayed at Wilderness Lodge we could have watched it properly from there
We enjoyed a drink and snack on the balcony before heading to bed, safe in the knowledge that we wouldn’t have a rude awakening in the morning.
