This year's Boxing Day Bargain is San Diego! Day 3

We were awake again at about 0630 so we headed up to the gym. I did 15 mins of core (part of a 4 week programme I was completing) and a 30 minute cycle on the hotel peloton.

After we went to the little on site coffee shop where I got a chocolate croissant and peppermint mocha, Rob had a muffin and hot chocolate.

As we left the hotel they were setting up what appeared to be a ski slope – complete with ‘real fake snow’ which seemed very odd in California!

We then took the trolley to Santa Fe and walked over to USS Midway, we bought tickets online in the queue arriving at 1030ish (and saved a massive $2 each).

We skipped the photo on our way in and started looking around, we did see this character – I think he had a name but I am not sure and I can’t tell from my photo.

One of our first stops was an early lunch we both had chicken strips and fries with a soda.

We then spent about 5 hours touring the ship, we went up and down so much I think Rob’s watch tracked his ‘flights of stairs’ at something like 150 for the day.

Does anyone know what this says:

I'll post the guide below

There were so many highlights, but we both really enjoyed the ‘island tour’ – we waited around 30 minutes for this but go to go up to the navigation room, and the bridge which was really interesting.

We also bought some bracelets made by the volunteers, which were available on a little table inside and the proceeds go to charity as far as I remember.

We finally left the ship at 1600, and walked back along the water.

We had originally expected to visit another of the maritime museums today but we just didn’t have time as we spent so long at Midway!

We took the trolley back from Santa Fe to fashion valley where we popped into Bath and Body Works to buy a few bits.

We had a rest in our room before dinner at Arlo, we had intended to try the Lapper (which is like a sports bar) but it was too noisy – there was some kind of games night being hosted.

I had a salad, Rob had a chicken dish and then I had a s’mores dessert while Rob had banana cake.

The total cost was about $105 inc tip.

After our long day we watched a bit of tv in our room again before bed
