Shall we go to New York on Boxing Day? Why not?

Christmas Day - Pre travel Day

After we did Christmas Day with the family we did some last minute ironing and packed up our stuff before leaving home at 1800.

We had a fairly easy drive except for some occasionally heavy rain and we arrived at the Hilton Garden Inn (T2/T3 as lowest cost!) at about 2000.

We had booked a Queen room but were upgraded to a King Room (we paid with 20,000 points and £49) and as we are gold Hilton members we get breakfast for free.

We set our alarm for 6am for the morning.

Boxing Day - Travel Day

Our alarm went off at 6am and I set about completing 30 mins of Peloton workouts as I am completing #3for31 (a challenge where you do 30 mins each day in December before showering and getting ready.

We had a standard (but free!) breakfast in the hotel before heading over to park the car at the T5 pods.

We took our pod to T5 which is so much easier than a bus. A few minutes later we completed bag drop then through security, which was relatively quiet and pain free.

We picked up coffee for me and some snacks for the flight and waited for gate to be announced.

We boarded at 11ish and were in the air by 1155. We were in the very last row and there was a rather large guy sat in front of us who took up more than his seat. The lady who was allocated the seat next to him spoke to the cabin crew and luckily they were able to move her as it would have been very uncomfortable for both of them otherwise..

We had a drinks and snacks run followed by lunch at 1300, I had Christmas Lunch and Rob had moussaka. Not bad overall and we had cheese and biscuits and dessert! I forgot photos!

Later we had our snacks and then finally a weird chicken pastry. Much better food than our last flight but sooooo cold! We both watched a couple of movies and managed to have short naps along the way.

We landed at 1430 but immigration took ages as normal, although once we saw the officer we were through in minutes.

We got a cab and arrived at our hotel at about 1700, where it took ages to check in due to waiting for other people but again once we got to the desk we were sorted in literally 2 mins.

We dropped our luggage in our room and went in search of food. We tried Grand Central but it was mega busy so we decided on Chick Fil-A as it was nearby.

Once we had eaten we decided to walk to Rockefeller Center to see the tree and we watched the show on Saks too.

fter we were done we walked back to the hotel and were in bed by 2000!
