Background
Despite having a trip to Florida (including a cruise to the Bahamas) in November we were fed up with the weather and decided to look for a Bargain Boxing day Break!We found out a couple of years ago when we went to New York that you can get some great deals if you are flexible on destination and booking at the last minute.
We started looking on about 19/20 December and had 3 or 4 options which were: San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Houston.
In the end San Diego won because the weather and price worked. The weather in San Francisco was rainy, Houston looked lovely in terms of weather but was more expensive.
So, we booked our trip on 23rd December leaving on Boxing Day with a stay at the Thistle T5 on Christmas Night so that we could use the pods to travel to T5.
Flights for 2 adults and hotel for 5 nights in San Diego was £1900, Thistle at T5 was £139 for a double room and 8 days parking (we only needed 7 days but it was the cheapest option).
Parking at the pod car park was more expensive than the hotel.
We were also being accompanied on the trip by Rob’s dad and his new ‘girlfriend’.
