Christmas Day - pre-travel day
We woke up just before 8am, we both did our workouts and got showered and ready for the day.
We both selected our clothes ready to pack and then couldn’t find our toiletries bag. We looked in all of the suitcases and literally everywhere in the house. It could not be found! We used smaller ‘individual’ bags in the end.
(We have still not found it having returned home…it is a true mystery!)
We were packed by about 1100 and put our workout gear on to wash, because who wants to come home to sweaty clothes?!
We dropped off Christmas gifts at our friend’s house (we are godparents to their children) and then headed to Rob’s dad’s for lunch.
We had a giant lunch (dad might have over catered), then we took flowers to the cemetery.
Finally, we stopped in to visit my uncle as he was on his own for the day (we took him to breakfast the day before but still wanted to see him) and made sure he would be ok while we were away (I also got my sister to keep an eye on him).
Back at home, we sorted out our last few bits and then packed the car with our bags, we left at about 1640, and the drive was fairly quiet.
We stopped at Fleet (obviously) and added some charge to the car, using the app this was free at Gridserve because it was Christmas Day. This saved us about £25 I think based on our calculations (but we would have added slightly less charge if we were paying). We also had a starbucks while we were there.

We arrived at the Thistle at around 8pm and checked in and were allocated rooms on the ground floor because of all the bags – Rob and I had 2 suitcases and so did Dad

We got a quick drink in the bar before bed and then had some brownies in our room, these had been purchased from a local baker and were intended for dessert after lunch but none of us had been able to eat them.

They have this outside area where you can see the runway...would be great in the nicer weather:

We had some left so they came on the plane for extra snacks!
