2 weeks with the family... are we crazy?! Day 9

8 Oct

Today we were taking Blake to Universal, while Kev, Sharna, Leona and Charlie went to Legoland. Mum and Dad were having a quiet day at the villa.

We had toast and coffee at villa before leaving when Blake was ready. We arrived around 9.30 and had to wait in line to buy tickets, I hadn’t realised that they would have so few windows open (and it took a while) so we should have got them in advance.

We bought a 1 day 2 park ticket so that Blake would be able to do both parks and ride the Hogwarts Express.

We started off with Rip Ride Rockit which was showing a 40 min wait but we were on in 20.

Next, we headed over to Diagon Alley where we waited around an hour for Gringotts (although last time we were here it took ages with the express pass too).

By this point we were getting hungry so we got burgers before taking the train across to Hogsmeade, not sure what the wait was but it wasn’t too bad.

Once on the other side we went to Forbidden Journey which was posted at 75 mins but was actually about 50; Blake wasn’t keen on the spiders!

He decided against riding the little rollercoaster so we went to Olivanders where we watched the choosing ceremony and then got Blake an interactive wand, he also bought a cup (one of many purchased on the trip).

We took the train back to Kings Cross (so that he had experienced both directions) where we got a quick drink and Blake did a spell with his wand.

In an attempt to hit a few more attractions we did Men in Black (which annoyingly changed to a 35 min wait as we joined the queue) followed by Transformers (which was only 10mins).

Along the way Blake took some photos with some of the sights and vehicles. We then took him back to Islands of Adventure to ride Hulk (took about 40 mins due to a breakdown we think) and then Spider-Man which took about 30 mins.

By this point Blake had decided he was tired and so we headed home at about 7.30 picking up food from Panera Bread and McDonalds for dinner on the way home.

Quite an expensive day out – but I think we managed most of the things that Blake wanted to do which was the whole point
