The trip I am not planning! Trip home :(

 Monday 1st April

We woke up to rain (something we were likely to experience at home) and spent the morning chatting and having breakfast. I had a new yoghurt to try

During the morning Rob and I packed our bags ready to leave later

We had grilled cheese and turkey and some fries (although I have once again forgotten to photo some of the food!

We showed Tom some Disney videos ahead of our November trip and he suddenly had pain which we hoped wasn’t a result of the Disney videos.

Final cat photo

We had to leave for the airport but when we arrived we messaged and Jen had taken him to the ER.

We were quickly through security (thanks TSA pre-check) and we got a slice of pizza each from Sbarro, we could have walked to Earl of Sandwich but Rob moaned so much last time plus neither of us were that hungry.

We boarded and departed on time, once again our passports were surplus to requirements (they had been needed at check-in) as we just had to look at a camera, the flight was not very full at all.

Hilariously (or not) I managed to spill my first drink all over my legs…..does anyone know if Diet Coke is a good moisturiser?

I didn’t have the meal, just the chocolate dessert, I don’t think I missed anything exciting.

We bought the message wifi onboard so we could check on Tom. Jennifer suspected kidney stones and after a little while it was confirmed, he got some meds and sent home for them to pass naturally (eek).

We both struggled to sleep despite the exit row and all the space. I know Rob watched a movie but not sure what it was.

I watched episodes of Brooklyn 99 in an attempt to dose off as I have seen all the episodes so many times.

It didn’t work but whilst not sleeping we had 2 snack runs – I had chocolate digestives and a small dairy milk bar.

As we approached the end of the short flight we were offered a ‘bacon roll’, I declined as I expected it to be awful.

Rob accepted it and took 1 bite before confirming my expectation – why the airlines persist is beyond me. Give me a muffin or cereal bar – which is easy to do surely?

We actually landed early, at about 0615 which was good and I got through the egates with no issues (I am still baffled as to why the USA camera can recognise me with my glasses but the UK ones can’t!)

Sadly, the bags took ages – at least an hour which was frustrating.

We picked them up and headed out – Rob was asked by a customs officer where we had arrived from. When he said Philadelphia the officer was uninterested (surely that just means you can lie about where you came in from?)

We made our way to the pods and took our pod back to the car park, this was at least fast and easy. It told us they were busy and to consider sharing – there was no one else waiting but also they are a bit cosy to share with people you don’t know.

Bags loaded into the car and we were off on our way home, we should have had enough electric to get home (there might be a déjà vu moment for some readers) so we decided not to stop at Fleet.

We were doing ok but our miles were going down a bit faster than we hoped but it was chilly and wet.

We approached Amesbury and had about 20 miles ‘spare’ so decided to keep going…..and it kept decreasing!

We were committed now, as there are no chargers between home and Amesbury! We had to slow down a little bit to conserve energy and we took the ‘local’ (non-A303) route when we got near home as going slower extends the range.

We made it home at about 0930 (which doesn’t sound awful but felt like ages) and I started the first load of washing before going to bed for a few hours. Oh and we had about 10 miles left

I set the alarm for 1400 when I forced myself out of bed and then dragged Rob out after I had a shower.

We went and got food for the week and then got a pizza for dinner, and then tried not to fall asleep on the sofa before heading to bed at 2100…. another trip over!

A few photos of our purchases at home:

Jennifer and Tom will be joining us on our trip to Florida in November….we are staying onsite at Disney for 4 nights and I am really looking forward to it!

Next up though – a cruise to ‘Paris’
