A short notice November trip... with a twist! Day 1 - Pre travel day

31st October

As is typical I had to work this morning to maximise my annual leave allowance :) I finished work at 12 and speed walked to the car before heading home.

We were in the process of selling our house and had a couple of viewings arranged for the afternoon.
I picked up sandwiches on the way back and Rob had dropped the dog off at the kennels. I got home just after 1 and we quickly had our lunch before starting to clean the house. Our first viewing was at 2.45 and I was just finishing de-fluffing the stairs when the estate agent arrived!

We headed to the garage to put away the garden furniture and make space for the car and then took the car to get cleaned whilst the second viewing was happening.

We came back and finally we were able to start ironing and packing!

This doesn’t take us too long but it was Halloween and we normally decorate the house with lights and stuff. We threw up a few Jack Skellington light ups and a couple of figures so that the neighbourhood kids knew we had treats for them.

Then the estate agent called with an offer from one of the couples....! It was a bit low and he went back to them with our response....and called back with an offer from the other couple! Still a bit low so he went back to both to explain that there was another interested party. A short while later and we now had 2 offers at an acceptable price. We picked the couple who were in a better position and booked a couple of viewings for when we got home!

Around 5.30 the children started arriving and we started giving out treats. We were finalising packing and doing odd jobs (fish food etc) whist doing this....just a little chaotic!

We decided to call it a night around 7.30 and packed the lights away. We had planned to leave around 8 because we didn’t want to get stuck in traffic on the A303 on a Friday night.
We stopped briefly at Fleet Services to get some food (nothing exciting just McDonalds) and continued to the Premier Inn Bath Road (Heathrow).

I had booked 1 night and parking for our stay for £92 (got £13 cash back) and you do have to pay £10 parking for the night at the hotel. It was a good price but the Premier Inn was more tired than some others that we had stayed in, and there was a leak in the bathroom (which we reported when we checked out).

Anyway, it was a place to sleep for the night so off to bed we went.
