2 weeks with the family... are we crazy?! Day 1

30th Sept

This morning Rob and I woke up at 0630, we knew the others would probably have been awake for ages (they were) so we got ready and were all at the bus stop just before 0800. We got lucky and got a bus to the Magic Kingdom almost immediately!

We took a leisurely walk up Main Street as we had a breakfast reservation at Be Our Guest at 0915. We didn’t stay to watch the welcome show but went around the castle and checked in for breakfast.

Complete photo fail again here, several of the group had Gaston’s feast and I’m sure there was an open sandwich in there too.

For some reason our food (Rob and I) got delayed and so the rest had almost finished when ours finally arrived (we had to ask someone and they went and got our order). I had the Cronut and Rob had Gaston’s feast and we both enjoyed them although I wouldn’t have paid $25 or the $28 that it now costs!

We started off in the direction of Frontierland as Kev and Sharna wanted a cigarette and there is a smoking zone in the area and our first FP was booked for Big Thunder Mountain.

We got over there though and everyone wanted to ride Splash Mountain, I needed the restroom and so said I would wait for them outside as I don’t like trying to join people in the line.

They all rode Splash Mountain via the Standby line (I think the wait was 20 mins) and then after we all did Big Thunder using our 1st FP.

After that we all did Splash Mountain twice first in the Standby line and then using our 2nd FP of the day. We had a little while until our next FP so to save everyone walking too far we took the train to Storybook Circus.

We were starting to feel a little bit hungry so we all used some snack credits in Big Top Souvenirs and then most of us met Daisy, Minnie, Goofy and Donald (who had waits of 5 or 10 minutes).

We still had a little bit of time until our final FP so we rode both Dumbo and Barnstormer (only 5 min waits) before heading to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I had originally wanted to book this for earlier in the day but it wasn’t possible so we were now heading back to the hotel for a brief rest before our first dinner reservation.

As we were on our way out of the park the gang spotted that Tinkerbell had a short wait (it was during the parade) but apparently there was an issue so in the end they saw the main Mouse.

We must have got a bus quite quickly back to the hotel (as I have not moaned about the wait in my notes) where we had a short rest and then we were off to Epcot where we popped into MouseGear for a short browse before dinner.

We checked in at Garden Grill and had to wait just a few minutes before being seated. We had some good interactions with the characters and the food was quite good, they have introduced fries since the last time we had been here and the dessert has changed.

After dinner we took a quick ride on Soarin’ as I managed to get a FP when I checked the app at about 1530 which was a nice surprise.
Mum, Dad and Blake decided they were finished for the day so took the bus back to the hotel while the rest of us went to see what the wait time was for Test Track. It was posted at about 30 mins I think but it took a little bit longer because there was a short rain shower and we think there was a short interruption.

We took the bus back and then took the car to get some milk and snacks for the rooms – I think we went to Goodings but can’t be certain as I haven’t made a note!
