Sightseeing in Seattle and Adventures in Alaska Day 10 - Return to Seattle

26 Sept

This morning we set the alarm for 6 am, I had a quick shower then grabbed a coffee from downstairs (I still had credits to use up) where people were already queuing to get off the ship.

We purchased the city pass and scheduled the Space Needle for 1200 and the Chihuly glass exhibition for 1315.

Next we went to breakfast where everything gets speeded up in the morning of departure!

I had the fruit plate plus scrambled eggs, Rob had an omelette which apparently couldn’t have tomato in….notice the tomato on both of our plates….!

Breakfast completed we went to 270 which was our allocated ‘lounge’ to await our tag number being called, despite our estimate being 0900 our tag number was called at 0830. They really are keen to get you off the ship!

We collected our bags and showed our passports, we were asked what our plans were but no massive grilling.

We headed outside and Rob booked an Uber as we walked to the pick-up spot. We arrived a couple of minutes ahead of our driver and the cost was around $30.

Back at the Homewood Suites we stored our bags and took a short rest in the lobby mainly as we knew most things would still be shut.

We walked to the Needle and got a drink and cookie at the Armoury which is a few minutes’ walk away – there are lots of different places to get food.

We headed up the Needle being crammed into an elevator and arrived at the top.

The photos pretty much speak for themselves - the view is pretty good and the weather was amazing. We even got a photo with our cruise ship in the background.

It was super hot in the sun, we were also baffled by people who we assume are on instagram/influencers taking soooo many photos of themselves.

We took some photos on the scary glass rotating floor which I did not enjoy!

Back down to the bottom and we bought our obligatory magnet before entering the Chihuly exhibit.

We were baffled by being told on entry that we should not touch any of the exhibits – why would we even try?!

Regular readers will know that we aren’t really ‘art fans’ but some of the glass structures were really pretty.

We did get told off by a woman, apparently, we were in her way when having our photo taken by one of the employees.

On the way around, we found a pizza stand so we had lunch in the garden in the sun which was really nice.

We took some more photos and then walked back to our hotel, where our room was now available (and on the quieter side of the building!) so we got our stuff sorted and did some laundry and then watched some tv.

We did plan to go back to the Needle for a night view but we were too lazy, we were also so full from the cruise that we didn’t need a proper dinner!
