Sightseeing in Seattle and Adventures in Alaska Day 3

19th Sept

This morning we were awake at about 7 again and I watched a little bit of the Queen’s funeral procession while we got ready.

We had breakfast downstairs again, before watching some tv until we needed to leave for our cruise.

We went to the lobby to check out and I requested a room on the quieter side of the hotel for our stay after our cruise.

Rob got a Lyft which arrived in a couple of minutes, it was about a 20 min ride to the port and cost about $30.

We dropped off our luggage and headed into the terminal where we queued briefly for security and then for check-in.

We had our covid tests checked and asked our health questions before having photos taken for our sea pass and then we were able to board.

Once onboard we completed our muster point safety check (we were lucky that our muster point was on deck 4 but it makes sense to do it quickly) and then Rob tested the pizza at Sorrentos (for comparison purposes obviously).

Next, we went to deck 14 where I was hoping to find soft serve ice cream but there was none  Luckily, it did appear later in the cruise

While on deck 14 we also made a dinner reservation at the Coastal Kitchen for 1930, as we were in a Junior Suite we could only access this restaurant for dinner and only if they have space available.

Then we headed to the Solarium and found the Bistro which had never been open when we were on Anthem. I had pasta, vegetables and some cake while Rob had beef and mashed potatoes.

We sat in the Solarium for a while before our room was ready, we did have some lovely sunshine while in port. We dropped off our carry-on bag and checked everything was the same as on Anthem – which it was

We collected our soda cups and my coffee card and then went up to 270 where I got some fruit and we sat and watched outside for a while.

We headed back to the room and found our bags had arrived, we were unpacked before we left the port!

We started sailing away at about 5pm, and we watched from our balcony for a little while.

We popped down to look at the Alaska survival sale….which appeared to be fleeces and other warm clothes which we had bought with us. Our fellow cruisers were getting into the shopping mood though as items were being grabbed off the rack as quick as the staff could put it out.

We had dinner booked at Coastal Kitchen for 1930 so headed up. I really like being able to see out which you can’t from most sections of the Main Dining Room.

I had tomato soup and Rob had pork belly to start and then we both had filet mignon for mains (mine well done and Rob’s medium) and Royal Chocolate cake for dessert.

We were both still struggling with the time difference so headed to bed after dinner.
