Now for something completely different... August with 5 first timers! Day 8

19th August

This morning Rob and I slept till 9! At least now we were in the villa the kids could go downstairs and so it wasn’t quite as easy to tell when they were awake.

The kids spent the morning in the pool before we left for Islands Of Adventure at around 1pm, we parked at Royal Pacific and took the boat so that we could make the best use of our overnight parking charge.

We started off with The Hulk (for Rob, Matt, Ellis and I) whilst Lucy took Amy and Hayden to the spinning ride nearby (I forget the name). We were quite impressed as this was really the first proper rollercoaster that Ellis had been on!

We worked our way around the park – doing the Doom ride and then we took Hayden and Ellis on Spider-Man.

We all went on Bluto’s barges and got absolutely soaked! So we went in one of the ‘people driers’, and when we came out it actually felt cool outside after the heat!

The kids really wanted to ride Jurassic Park so despite barely having got dry I took them all on. Luckily we didn’t get much wetter

Next up, we got return times for the Pterandon Flyers and then moved onto Harry Potter.

Rob, Ellis, Hayden and I did Forbidden Journey while Matt took Amy on the small coaster. After we got off Matt, Amy, Rob and Hayden went on the small ride again – you could hear Amy screaming!

We popped back to ride Pterandon Flyers – Matt took Amy and I took Hayden, Ellis wasn’t feeling that good after Forbidden Journey (he wears glasses like me and I think not wearing them made him struggle). Then on our way out Rob and Matt took a quick ride on Dragon Challenge.

We were going to take the Hogwarts Express across to Universal Studios but it wasn’t running which was a shame.

We stopped in the photo shop at the front of the park to collect the prints which were included in our package – whilst I wouldn’t pay full price I think we got reasonable value for the price we paid. I don’t think it is as good as memory maker though.

Next up, dinner – we did initially try Hard Rock but the wait was 30 minutes plus so we ended up at Grill Brew across the way at City Walk.

We had a nice meal and then took the boat back to Royal Pacific to collect the car for the short drive home (arrived about 10pm).
