Now for something completely different... August with 5 first timers! Day 11

22nd August

This morning we had an alarm set to make sure we didn’t oversleep (no chance of that but just in case!) so we were awake at 0715. We got breakfast and left around 0900 for Kennedy Space Center, traffic was fine and we arrived around 1030.

We decided to start with the bus tour which with hindsight was definitely a good idea. The kids all seemed reasonably interested at this stage and Rob and I were reminded of some of the facts, we did also see one alligator along the way – although Lucy missed it!

Off the bus and we did the Saturn 5 tour, this is where the kids started to lose interest  Rob got himself a framed stamp from the first moon landing from the gift shop before we took the bus back across.

We headed into the shuttle building and watched the movie (which we hadn’t seen before) and then all of us except Lucy and Amy went and did the simulator experience.

We had a look around the main gift shop and got a quick drink and snack on the way out, we left just after 1500.

We hit a little bit of traffic on the way back and so decided to get dinner on the way as we had park plans for this evening.

We went to the Boardwalk and got dinner at ESPN – even as a party of 7 there was no wait – which is great when you don’t make plans for where to eat. A meal of sandwiches and burgers but all tasted good!

After dinner we went across to the Animal Kingdom where we had a FP for Navi River Journey which was fun but I wouldn’t wait a long time in the standby line.

Next up the boys wanted to ride Everest so we checked out the standby line, I think it was about a 20 minute wait. I took Ellis and Matt went with Hayden.

Finally we had a FP for Rivers of Light, it was super hot waiting for the show and those benches are not very comfortable! The show was actually quite good (I wasn’t sure what to expect) and there were no fireworks which pleased Hayden.

Once the show was over we headed home, arriving back at about 10pm.
